REU Chemistry Research in All of the “Traditional” Areas of Chemistry
NOTE: This job listing has expired and may no longer be relevant!
This program focuses on chemistry research in all of the “traditional” areas of chemistry (analytical, inorganic, organic, physical), and also provides opportunities in many non-traditional areas including computational chemistry and materials chemistry. Possible research areas include:
Analytical Chemistry * Inorganic Chemistry * Organic Chemistry * Physical Chemistry *Computational Chemistry * Materials Chemistry * Ligand Design * Kinetics * Catalysis * Synthetic Organometallic Chemistry * Non-electrolytic Solutions * Biochemistry * Layered Inorganic Materials * Metal Electrodeposition * Surface Chemistry * Organic Electrochemistry * Diamond-like Carbon Films * Organic Synthesis * Metal/Ceramic Nanocomposites * Optical Sensors * Gas-Phase Chemistry * Conducting Polymers * Fluorescence/Phosphorescence * Spectroscopy * Atmospheric Chemistry * Environmental Chemistry
In addition to a meaningful research experience, this program includes a career program led by former executives of major international chemical companies, tours of local companies to see how chemistry plays a role, “hands-on” learning experiences training in scientific communication (written and verbal), leadership in chemistry seminars by top leaders of the 170,000+ member American Chemical Society, and an ethics in science component.
We plan to provide a strong research experience combined with important career training.
Early application is encouraged, as we anticipate heavy interest in this unique program.
