REU Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Multifunctional Materials

We offer a unique summer research experience for undergraduate students in science, engineering, or mathematics disciplines. The research focus is nanotechnology. The program is funded by the National Science Foundation Divisions of Materials Research and Chemistry (DMR-1262075) with recreational activities funded by WVU Research Corporation and the WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. Our program runs May 19 – July 25, 2014 and takes place at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. Review of completed applications will begin on/after February 14, 2014. To be eligible for the NanoSAFE-REU program, you must: 1) be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, 2) be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior, 3) be majoring in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics discipline, and 4) have a minimum of 2.75 GPA in college science, math, and engineering courses.
Participants will receive:
Free room and board at West Virginia University, $5,000/summer stipend and travel allowance and experience field trips to National Laboratories and Research Facilities and team-building activities (rock climbing, ropes course, whitewater rafting, etc.). The program will be held on the campus of West Virginia University, located in Morgantown, WV. Morgantown is surrounded by numerous state parks, beautiful mountains, rivers, and lakes, and is located only 80 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA and 200 miles east of Washington, D.C. The summer months in West Virginia offer unparalleled opportunities for biking, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting and back country trail hiking.
